Dr. Christopher Munkel
Dr. Munkel feels blessed to have such a variety of experiences in life. Knowing that he wanted to do something in the medical field, he took classes in college at Boston University to give him that option. He was there for three years studying Art History and the sciences while minoring in French. His senior year he studied abroad at the Institute of European Studies in Nantes, France. It was in Europe that he was able to study different cultures and history that gave him a more global perspective. It was an experience that he would carry the rest of his life.
Upon returning to the US he attended dental school at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. While there, he was involved in various outreach programs. He went on a trip to Venezuela to do dentistry on orphan children and started a pediatric clinic that he received a national award for. Often times he volunteered at a clinic similar to ACDC. That is why it is a cause dear to his heart.
After practicing dentistry in his native St Louis for a few years, he met his wife, Leslie, in Telluride, Colorado at a Blues music and micro brew festival. They decided to return to Leslie’s hometown of Phoenix in 2003. He opened a practice in North Phoenix in 2008. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Lauren (11) and Gabrielle (7).
Dr. Munkel’s experience in dance dates back to his high school days where he was involved in school musicals. He was in Bye Bye Birdie, Guys and Dolls, and West Side Story. Now he concentrates on doing the art he studied in people’s mouths or helping people relieve themselves of head and neck pain related to jaw/joint and breathing issues.
Dr. Munkel’s passions include his family, traveling, and wine, which he has been know to teach a class on from time to time. He is excited to be involved in such a great event!
